Next month, the King's Cup Elephant Polo Tournament will take place in Hua Hin, Thailand. Meanwhile, the Summer Olympics are scheduled to begin this week in Greece.
Let us take this opportunity to urge the International Olympic Committee to consider including Ladyboy Elephant Polo as one of its competitive sports. It is most likely too late to include the event in this year's Olympics (especially since some of the elephants don't have their visas in order), but we hope that clearance can be obtained before the 2008 Summer Games.
If you know any members of the International Olympic Committee, we would appreciate your lobbying efforts.
Here are some photos for the consideration of the International Olympic Committee, as it ponders the possibilities of a Ladyboy Elephant Polo event in the next Summer Games. These photos were shot at last year's King's Cup Tournament by Alan Ewens, a reporter from the United Arab Emirates. (Alan will be reporting on this year's King's Cup Tournament as well.)

Conveniently, the 2008 Summer Games will be held in Asia - specifically, Beijing. This will afford the elephants a potential land route, sparing the airlines the sometimes difficult task of providing first-class airborne accommodations for them.
Stadium construction has not yet begun in Beijing, but the plans are drawn and ready:
A terrible accident happened today at the Olympics: a fan went out of control:
NY Times fact checker:
"fan" ???? An overly keen partisan in the stadium or a machine that blows air?
The latest in designer 'enhancements' for Olympic competitors? This is just one of the curious things that anybody can find in Athens' 'sub rosa' markets ....
