I still feel blasphemous today.

How about the talking snake bit. This is when Miss Eve is tempted by the then walking talking biped snake to bite into the forbidden fruit: WTF, it's just an apple, not even a Macintosh. Naturally, she shares her find with hubby.

Friday, October 2, 2009 (Third Day of the Blasphemy Feast)

Yesterday it was All About Eve ... (well, the talking snake did have a big part and, yes, Adam was seen biting down on the apple in one of the final panels).

Today it is all about one truly pissed off ass-hole screaming god. What really got his balls in a wringer was not so much that A&E took bites out of his little fruit tree; no, it was because A&E could now see that they were 'naked'. And, since god was so unhinged about people seeing naked bodies he damned Eve to labor pains and Adam (*) to a lifetime of toil and sweat among thorns and thistles. Oh, and he kicked out the legs from under the talking snake and made him slither forever. Finally, god does the 'dust to dust' bit.

(*) Adam does not come out of this looking very noble either: "The woman whom you gave to be with me, she gave me from the tree, and I ate ..." 1

1 Eve does not look too happy in this panel ... like, 'thanks, Adam, for putting all the blame on me'.

Saturday, October 3, 2009 (Final Day of Blasphemy)

OK, I know you are probably tired of hearing about a part of god's first work week. So, I'll finish off the A&E bit with god showing Adam and Eve the door. He makes the couple some clothes out of skins ... (which animals did god strangle?) ... so that he, god, won't have to see their privates as he ushers them out. And to prevent them from returning to Eden god sets up a whirling flaming sword at the entrance. And, to double-lock things god creates three monsters to keep guard just outside the gate.

From Sunday's Bangkok Post:

Less than a kilometer from Athenee Residence is a quirky wide and long overhead bike and pedestrian bridge (flyover? elevated road?) upon which I have hidden a geocache (I hid it months ago). In the immediate neighborhood of this architectural curiosity are a warren of small streets (sois) that help make Bangkok the interesting city that it is.

The cache:

Though Bread (a French style coffee shop) has been experimentally operating in a shop in the Athenee Residence for the past few weeks, this is the first time that I have eaten there for lunch.

I had the Sandwich Chicken Caesar. It was brilliant.

For dinner Watcharee, Rung and I went back to street soi food (Isan flavor).

The 7 PM Bangkok weather report: (*)

(*) If Watcharee would only let me take my camera to Nana.

(1) Today Aun and her daughter, Ploy, came over for lunch.

(2) A curious newspaper clipping ... do the dead want to contribute to global warming?

(3) A neighbor gets bigger.
