My friend, Kevin, from Arizona* sent me an email suggesting that my problems with printing on an Epson from a Mac was all the fault of Epson's driver. He suggested I use the HP printer. I took his advice and now I am again back in the 'printing' business. Thanks, Kevin!

* Kevin is a legend in Bangkok. His soi Cowboy bar, Old China Hand, was one of the first and best bars in Cowboy. Kevin was also involved in the making of some Bangkok based Vietnam War era films that were shot near his bar.

Part 1

Yesterday was Loy Krathong Day here in Thailand. We celebrated it by having dinner on the terrace of the Shangri-La hotel. Watcharee and I took one of her uncles and his wife with us. It was a great show: singing, fireworks, food and wine. I am going to drag this out for a couple of days. The first part shows our journey, the surroundings and the early fireworks that were set off near the Taksin Bridge.

Part 2

After the preliminary round of fireworks it was time, under a full moon, to float the Krathongs in the river ... this was followed by a lavish buffet.

Part 3

After dinner the late night fireworks started: a joint effort of the Shangri-La hotel, The Mandarin Oriental and The Peninsula. The fireworks displays were launched from specially designed boats which are operated by independent contractors who work the river all year offering pyrotechnics for a wide range of celebratory occasions such as weddings, birthdays and divorces.
