We're hooked on TV again. This time it is the HBO series "The Comeback"* starring Lisa Kudrow. Since we rarely use this room I forgot how comfortable it is ... like an audio/visual cocoon.
* I think my daughters sent us this series. Right, girls?
Two tastes; two sets of plates.
PS: Yes, another slow blog day in BKK.
PPS: Yikes, I forgot: another part of my exciting blog day was a visit to my car wash.
For the next couple of days let's visit the Novotel, our newest neighbor. Today we'll check out the lobby bar and after a glass of wine we'll visit "The Square: Food Outside the Box", the hotel's premium buffet restaurant.
After taking the Novotel's lift to near the roof we check out one of the north-facing suites. Pay attention to the glass divider* that separates the bathroom from the bedroom. Unlike in most Thai hotels and condos this 'window' can be 'closed' by the flick of an electronic switch that miraculously 'clouds' the glass.
* For some Thai reason bathrooms and bedrooms are not really separate here ... as in almost all cases the occupant of the bedroom can peer into and see the occupant of the bathroom and vice versa. Why? I don't know.1
1 Maybe it is because it is not a part of Thai culture to yell "What are you doing in there?"
The last bits of our neighborly Novotel tour took us to the roof and then to the mid-level swimming pool.
Finally, a view of that place from our place.
Today Bangkok's Holy RatDeemer House of Tribal Myths is totally empty. Its toilet-like confessionals are only whipped by secular breezes while its stagnant holy water basins sadly await fingers that are having more fun elsewhere ... on this day of human/human love. And, that bitchy fictitious mom and her equally mythical bastard kid are left alone to overlook an empty parking lot.
Shit! I forgot. Darwin Day was last Saturday, the 12th. But, our cars remembered it.
It is hard to believe ... but, another Hi-So Mega Mall/5Star Hotel is going to be built just a few minutes walk from our Bangkok condo. Built on land once owned by the British Embassy, it will be known as Central Embassy.* It will be located on the northwest corner of the intersection of Wireless Road and Ploenchit. The first 8 floors will have high end shops and department stores. Above this will rest the hotel.
* Though I am sure that the upper floors hotel will not carry that moniker.
